The UNICEF Report on the Situation of Children in Germany
with Prof. Dr. Sabine Walper
Graduate Psychologist, Former Director of the German Youth Institute (DJI), Professor of General Education and Educational Research at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich
The current UNICEF report on the situation of children in Germany provides an overview of the well-being of minors in key areas including health, education, and social, societal, and political participation. The report is based primarily on survey data collected from children and adolescents, placing their perspectives and experiences at the center of the analysis. International comparisons help to contextualize the findings for Germany, while comparisons over time highlight relevant trends. With its focus on growing up under conditions of family poverty, the report illustrates how social disparities affect children’s lives.
The webinar will first present key findings of the report and will subsequently provide an opportunity to discuss open questions as well as suitable political strategies for action.
